SailCoach Academy – Boarding School Programme (Malta)

Welcome to the Future of Sailing and Education

Welcome to the SailCoach Academy, a unique opportunity where high-performance sailing is seamlessly combined with academic education and physical development. We believe a young sailor’s future is shaped by quality time on the water alongside a strong foundation in the classroom.

Our boarding school programme is designed to help young Optimist and ILCA class sailors reach their full potential. With personalised coaching, structured fitness training, and tailored academic support, we provide the ideal environment for young athletes to thrive, both as students and as racing sailors.

Whether you’re an ambitious club level Optimist sailor or moving up through the ILCA ranks, the SailCoach Academy gives you the balance, structure, and support needed to grow into a well rounded and successful athlete.

Why SailCoach?

In today’s competitive sporting world, natural talent alone isn’t enough. At SailCoach, we combine expert coaching with top-class facilities to nurture the full potential of young sailors, both athletically and academically.

Teaching Establishments

At the SailCoach Academy, we offer a unique setup that combines high-performance sailing with a strong academic foundation through our partnership with the Mediterranean College of Sport (MCS) and St Edward’s College, both based in Malta.
This collaboration enables student-athletes to follow a flexible academic programme that aligns with their sailing commitments, helping them thrive both in school and on the water. Students benefit from a holistic education experience, which includes structured classroom learning, physical development, and elite level coaching.
All sailing and race training takes place at the SailCoach SailBase, located at the Royal Malta Yacht Club in Ta’ Xbiex. Here, students train under the guidance of SailCoach’s experienced coaching team in one of Europe’s best sailing locations.
Our programme includes:
•Two after-school training sessions each week
•Two weekend training sessions
These sessions bring together young sailors from MCS, St Edward’s College, and SailCoach’s broader athlete group, creating a dynamic and competitive training environment. This integrated approach helps students develop essential life skills such as discipline, time management, and resilience, preparing them for success both in sport and in their future careers.

For our younger Optimist sailors, we also offer a carefully tailored academic solution through our junior school programme. Students at this stage benefit from attending Mediterranean College of Sport, which provides a high standard of primary and lower secondary education within a supportive and structured environment. The curriculum is designed to promote all around development while allowing time for after school sailing sessions and weekend training. This ensures that even our youngest athletes can begin building strong foundations both academically and on the water, in a setting that nurtures talent, confidence, and a love for learning.

Imagine a school where sport and education seamlessly intertwine. At the Mediterranean College of Sport, student-athletes thrive in a vibrant learning environment guided by dedicated professionals.
