February Optimist Highfliers Clinic
February 13 - February 20
The SailCoach’s Optimist Highfliers Clinic is designed to give Optimist sailors quality sailing time during the February school holidays. The clinic will be led by coaches with a proven ability to prepare and inspire young sailors. The venue is SailCoach’s Malta SailBase which offers excellent sailing conditions all year round, allowing for quality hours on the water, contributing to improved speed and technique, all supported by specialist coaching.
We all know high performance comes from many hours on the water and this clinics goal is to do, just that under the watchful eye of some of the best coaches in the class. Developing speed in our sport is all about the little details and our coaches will give you what you need to be a smarter and faster Optimist sailor!
In this Optimist Highfliers Clinic our focus will be:
- On-the-water drills to improve boat handling technique
- Racing Training to help improve your race strategy
- Video analysis with targeted feedback
- We will facilitate your learning and make that learning fun
Pre Entry Experience:
The focus group of this Optimist Highfliers Clinic are boys and girls aged 8 to 15, who have been racing for two years and are now ready to start competing internationally or would like to improve their sailing skills to do much better on their national sailing circuit.
13th to the 20th February 2021:
The Optimist Highfliers Clinic daily schedule will start each morning with a group briefing at 10:00hrs at the Royal Malta Yacht Club the SailCoach”s Malta SailBase and finishing each evening at 17:00hrs. Parents should arrange for packed lunches, that can be taken on the water each day of the Highfliers Clinic.
This clinic is offered without accommodation, however, we have teamed up with the ST Hotels Group that have four hotels in the neighbourhood of Sliema which is one of the main tourist districts with good shopping, restaurants etc. This helps us offer a complete package for both parents and their children. All four hotels in the group are within walking distance of the Royal Malta Yacht Club where SailCoach is based. They can also offer holiday apartments within the hotel group.
There are some lovely boutique hotels in Valletta and there is the Grand Hotel Excelsior just opposite the Royal Malta Yacht Club and if you stay there, we can pick up by RIB each morning. There are some excellent deals on Airbnb in the Ta’ Xbiex, Gzira and Sliema neighbourhoods.
For this Optimist Highfliers Clinic which will take place at SailCoach’s Malta SailBase, between the 16th and the 21st of February, we have put together a coaching package which includes, our world-class coaching and charter Optimists. When booking, these are the clinic’s training days, therefore you should plan to arrive the day before and leave the day after.
